Team One is a full-service marketing communications agency specializing in launching remarkable work for premium, luxury and aspirational brands. As the luxury division of advertising giant Saatchi & Saatchi, Team One is the agency of record for Lexus, Ritz Carlton, and a number of other remarkable brands.
As one of Los Angeles’ most high-profile communications agencies, Team One maintains a robust post-production department. The original environment within their LA office, consisted of 8 Mac Pro Adobe Premiere edit bays and four Mac Pro graphics workstations that collaborated together on a centralized storage area network (SAN). When the time came to expand the facility with two flame stations and a SAN upgrade, Team One recognized the scope of the necessary changes, and knew that the task would require additional support.
“We handle everything from broadcast spots to new digital media,” says Gina Grosso, Team One’s Associate Director of Multimedia. “One thing that we really needed was additional technical support in helping us run the stations and do SAN servicing.”
Faced with the challenge of maintaining their network infrastructure while expanding their post-production capabilities––with no interruptions to daily workflow –– Team One reached out to DZ Solutions.
DZ proved to be a good fit. “What’s been great about DZ, is that they can partner with us in the sense of coming up with solutions but have also been very good at partnering with our internal resources team, and making sure that that collaboration is a solid one,” Grosso explains.
The idea of manipulating integral hardware in the midst of post-production was daunting, but DZ assured that any potential downtime would be minimal.
“We only lost a couple hours for the service to take place. DZ got everything done and they worked throughout the weekend to get us back online by Monday.”
In addition to bringing the SAN in line with the newest OS release, the DZ Team needed to ensure business continuity and provide disaster recovery. They accomplished through the loaning of an Isilon X400 NAS cluster and creating a local backup of all Data on the SAN.
The full range of services resulted in SAN health checks, SAN upgrade planning and implementations, as well as architecting and integrating the new Mac Pro Flame finishing workstations into the existing workflow. Despite the extensive nature of the project, the tasks were completed on time and on budget with no interruptions to daily productivity.
